Meramec Valley

Meramec Valley offers floating on three rivers, though the Meramec is by far the most popular with two tributaries-the Huzzah and Courtois floatable in the spring and early summer. Originally an iron works the hatchery at Maramec Springs provides trout for the river as well as an interpretive park for history buffs. Onondaga Cave is one of Missouri's finest specimens and a year around attraction. Council Bluffs is located at the source of the Big River, and nearby a branch of the Ozark Trail offers hikers and backpackers a chance to follow in the steps of the Missouri Tribes. Throughout the region equestrian trails like the Berryman and Long Ridge provide riders and mountain bikers a secluded but accessible trail and campground.
