Wappapello Lake State Park

Nestled in the hills that overlook the lowlands stretching into the Bootheel, the Park offers dramatic vistas, swimming, boating and fishing. Several trails offer backpacking, day hiking, as well as one out on Allison Point where the sunsets over the lake can be spectacular. South of lake is the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge nestled in a lowland swamp. As is common at lakes and river bluffs in Missouri, bald eagles and other raptors winter at Wappapello.
