Sam Baker State Park

Named for Governor Sam A. Baker who initiated the development of the Missouri State Park system, the Park borders the St Francois River and encompasses the whole of Mudlick Mountain and surrounding valleys. Backpacking and hiking through the Wild Area provides a tour of the 4000 acres dedicated to the natural beauty of the Park. Cabins and a Dining Lodge built by the CCC remain well preserved, and the campgrounds are level and spacious.
