Camping in the OzarksWe've divided the Ozarks into regions, each of which represents a group of related watersheds. Missouri State Parks and the US Army Corps of Engineers Campgrounds generally have the best facilities, including showers and laundry. The US Forest Service operates camps located in the Mark Twain National Forest. Many of the structures were built in the 1930's by the CCC. The National Park Service maintains the camps within the National Scenic Riverways along the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers. The most primitive camps are found in the Conservation Areas, and many are only used seasonally for sporting. |
